версию A Man For All Seasons с Чарлтоном Хестоном. Хестон, конечно, неплохой актёр, но сравнения со Скофилдом не вынес бы никто. Главное отличие (помимо актерского состава) - расширенный список персонажей (имперский посол, хз зачем, для мебели, и Common Man в качестве хора и чтобы вызвать отвращение)) и расширенный текст (пьеса, похоже, в оригинале весьма и весьма многословна). Крч проговаривают словами то что Скофилд показывал одной бровью)

омг, как хорошо, что я не посмотрела это раньше))
во-первых, слои)) там играют все)) в смысле, все. От прекрасной и совершенной Кейт Бланшетт в заглавной роли до Крейга и Гилгуда в третьестепенных не говоря уже о Джеффри Раше и о Венсане Касселе и Изабель Аджани во французских ролях (омг, как unconventional, французов играют французы)))
во-вторых, слои))) картинка куда более объёмная, когда уже хотя бы в общем в курсе про предыдущую политоту и папаню Генриха и его жён, и англо-французские войны непосредственно до, и реформацию тогда же, и всю вот эту шнягу)
красивое, в общем)

There is evidence that Cecily Neville, mother of the Yorkist kings Edward IV and Richard III, claimed that Edward IV was not fathered by the Duke of York, and rumours at the French court identified the father as an English archer named Blaybourne. Michael K. Jones’s Bosworth 1485 (Tempus Publishing, 2002) relates the story, which was also told in a Channel 4 documentary, Britain’s Real Monarch (2004). They traced the man who would be the rightful King today if Cecily spoke true, an amiable Australian sheep farmer (and republican) who would be King Michael I.

нет, ну то есть я уже когда решила прочетать Мизераблей в оригинале, то обнаружила что французский legalese аналогичен английскому, но вот оно историческое доказательство, оно же provenance XD
English was used for general argument in the courts, while most of the statutes and writs were composed in Latin; but formal pleading, and the exercises known as ‘moots’, were conducted in a strange judicial vernacular called ‘Law French’. This was an inheritance from the Norman kings, but it had developed into a hybrid form of speech suited only to judges and lawyers: ‘Est un question in nos livres si … l’opinion des touts les justices … Amendez votre ple.’ Even the ‘Year Books’, those records of pleas and cases going back to the thirteenth century, are in that tongue.

1) После гламурных Тюдоров глаз отдыхает на обыкновенно выглядящих людях)) Seriously, в Тюдорах были красивые и ухоженные примерно все, включая всяких второстепенных пожилых персонажей вроде кардинала Вулси и Томаса Мора, а уж если кто по сюжету просто обязан был быть стареньким, как Папа, то его играл Питер О'Тул)) А уж кто помоложе, то все красавцы, начиная с самого Генриха и заканчивая эпизодическим Франциском и даже императорским послом (насчет произношения имени которого между двумя сериалами имеются серьезные разногласия)) Короче, в Wolf Hall все более разнообразные в плане внешности и возраста, и одеты периодически менее привлекательно (мужские чепчики, ыыы... ну или как там называется двойной головной убор по типу "шляпа на панаму")), Генрих - ярко-рыжий, а Мор ходит небритый и замызганный (и это ещё до тюряги)).
2) Из Мора тут вообще пытаются сделать если не отрицательного, то неприятного персонажа, но выходит плохо) Зачем пытаются, понятно -- главный герой тут Томас Кромвель, а чтобы вот из него сделать хотя бы morally ambiguous character, нужно приложить довольно много усилий) Например, несмотря на то что Мор типа тот ещо перец, Кромвель у нас, оказывается, фанбой Мора с глубокого деццтва (альтернативная история, как я понимаю))
3) Мэри в Тюдорах - боевая агрессивная девица, Мэри в Wolf Hall - болезненная заика и вообще креведко

After the preliminary studies at St Anthony’s, in which More had learned to appreciate English ‘congrewe’, or grammatical accuracy, he proceeded to the study of the Latin language. Ever since the middle of the fourteenth century this had been achieved partly by means of vulgaria, clauses or sentences in English which then had to be translated into Latin. Many of these useful phrases were proverbial in nature, and through such tags or apothegms it is possible to glimpse a true permanence or continuity within English culture: ‘O good turne asket another’; ‘When the hors is stolen, steyke the stabul dore’; ‘Where is no fyre ther is no smoke’; ‘Brende childe fyre dredes’; ‘Many hondes maken lite werke’; ‘Maner makes man’; ‘The more haste, the werse spede’; ‘Bettur ys late thanne never’. These proverbs were old when they were collected in manuscript form, which suggests a tradition of speech enduring for almost a thousand years. It might be termed folk wisdom, but some of that wisdom has now fallen into disuse; ‘It is no shame to fall, but to lye longe’ and ‘Thou shalt do as the preste says, but not as the preste dothe’ are unfortunate casualties of time and forgetfulness.
